Why Upgrade to 304 Stainless Steel?
Most standard grill grates are designed to keep costs down, not to last. Big brands typically use:
✦ Porcelain-coated steel → chips, flakes, and eventually rusts.
✦ Thin stainless rods (430 grade) → cheaper alloy, more prone to corrosion and warping.
Sacred Sear grates are laser-cut from 304 stainless steel — the same premium material used in professional kitchens and outdoor appliances. It’s built to withstand the elements without rusting or chipping, and the geometric design gives you more surface contact for better searing than ordinary rods. This means reliable performance season after season, without needing constant replacements.
What do I do once I receive my grill grate?
✦ Wash with soap and hot water, then fire up your grill, wipe down or spray your grate with a high smokepoint oil, then put it on the grill about 20 minutes around 400 degrees.
Will my stainless steel grate discolor over time?
✦ Yes — high heat naturally creates a patina on stainless steel, which can appear bronze, blue, or rainbow-toned. This is purely cosmetic and won’t affect performance. Flames and food will also leave carbon buildup, which brushes off easily. Many grillers love the seasoned look, but if you prefer a polished finish, you can restore it with a stainless cleaner and a mesh grill brush.
How do I clean it?
✦ After cooking, while grill still mildly hot, brush it down with a mesh grill brush like BBQ Daddy or GrillArt. Re-Season with a cooking spray. Wear hand protection.
Can I cook marinated food?
✦ Absolutely yes, but this leaves more carbon buildup, so we recommend to not skip over the post cook clean.
